A Child’s Natural Curiosity…..
Is Where the Magic of Learning Begins
Maple Grove Preschool and Childcare is an all day quality Early Childhood Program that serves children ages 3-6 years old. Our program utilizes the HighScope Curriculum along with Montessori Practices. Our curriculum is uniquely designed to provide a rich academic foundation while promoting independence, decision making, cooperation, creativity, and problem solving in young children.
How? The HighScope Curriculum along with Montessori activities and practices includes learning objectives, effective adult interaction strategies, and assessment measures that help programs ensure a high-quality experience for all learners.
This Program uses the Early Childhood Indicators of Progress: Minnesota’s Early Learning Standards (ECIPs) to guide our curriculum and practices. Our program has enriching activities that include physical and movement development; language, literacy and communications; mathematics; science; social systems; approaches to learning; the arts, and social and emotional development.
We are unique in that you won't find a room packed with children here. We believe in high quallity environments where each child is given ample space and attention to thrive and grow! We have a very small group ratio of 6 children to 1 adult. Low child-to-adult ratios and small group sizes help ensure that your child gets enough one-on-one attention from an adult who is available to take care of each child’s unique needs. This responsive caregiving and interaction is extremely important to your child’s social and emotional development, physical well-being, and overall learning.
Children thrive in stable and nurturing environments where they are given the opportunity to form long term , loving attatchments to a primary caregiver or teacher over time.
We know that all children who develop secure attachments with a primary caregiver or teacher during the early years of life are more likely to have positive relationships with peers, be liked by their teachers, perform better in school, and respond with resilience in the face of adversity as preschoolers and older children.
We do not have a high teacher turnout rate here, in fact, we guarantee your child will have one primary teacher and caregiver during the entire time they are here.
Creative Art and Music
Our Creative Arts Curriculum includes all types of artistic expression for your child to experience painting, drawing, making to music, dancing, drama, creating with new materials, building, etc. In addition, children are exposed to a variety of experiences to further their appreciation of the arts and set life-long patterns for enjoying the arts.
Social Interactions
We foster your child's self- independence, self-awareness, and interest in the feelings of others. We know that children are learning new ways to engage successfully and positively with their friends. We recognize that in the early years, children are developing social and emotional skills that will guide their behavior, affect their overall mental health, and impact their ability to succeed academically as they move on to later schooling. Our program provides guidance to your child to learn appropriate expectations for positive social interactions.
Literacy
Developing your child's Language, Literacy, and Communications skills are an integral part of our curriculum. This includes daily exposure to Listening and Understanding both the written and oral word, Communicating and Speaking; Emergent Reading and Writing activities.
Math and Science
Maple Grove Preschool and Childcare utilizes Highscope's Number Plus for our Math Curriculum.
Numbers Plus is a comprehensive math curriculum that helps children develop key mathematical skills.
It includes detailed plans for small- and large-group activities, with ideas for extending learning throughout the program day.
What's special about Numbers Plus is that all children, regardless of developmental or ability level, can participate and learn together, because each activity has built-in progression.
Drawing upon the latest research and practice in early mathematics learning and teaching, Numbers Plus actively engages young children's mathematical aptitude with appealing materials and ideas.
Aligned with the standards of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and developed under a grant from the Institute of Education Sciences, US Department of Education, the activities in Numbers Plus are divided into five content areas, such as Number Sense, Geometry, and Algebra.
